About
About Me
Hello, my name is Marilyn Murdock. My counselling work is based on my education, my experience and my values.
I am an experienced, professional therapist with over 25 years working in the field of counselling psychology.

I believe that feeling heard can be very empowering, and so listening is integral to the care that I give. Active listening allows me to better reflect back the patterns and cycles that I see in my clients. I will explore with you the ways your current struggles may be connected to your past experiences to increase your awareness and understanding of yourself. I will help you identify your emotional triggers and develop skills to manage big, overwhelming emotional reactions. I notice that people are often very hard on themselves - critical self talk and very high expectations. Many of us have a habit of beating ourselves up in an effort to get where we want to go, or to become who we believe we "should" be. This often backfires. Instead, I aim to help my clients develop a deeper sense self-compassion.

If you are struggling with anxiety, grief, feeling lost or overwhelmed, you are not alone. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or if you think I might be a good fit for you.
